WAPA has published an updated estimate of pear stocks. As for the European Union countries (plus Switzerland), stocks of this fruit, as of 1 May 2021, amounted to 147,579 tonnes. The vast majority of these stocks, 130,663 tonnes, are Conference pears. A month earlier, the volume of pear stocks was estimated at 273,473 tonnes.
In April 2021, 125,895 tonnes disappeared from European warehouses. This means, that the stocks of pears in the EU countries decreased by 46,0 per cent from month to month. In March, the "disappearance" of pears amounted to 156,198 tonnes. As it can be seen, the trade of this fruit in April was a little less dynamic than in March.
In the current season, there are more pears in the EU countries than a year ago. According to WAPA data, the stock level on 1.05.2020 was 103,835 tonnes, so year-on-year there are 43,744 tonnes more pears. This is an increase of 42.1 per cent.
As for Poland, according to WAPA, there were no more stocks of Polish pears at the beginning of May 2021. Thus, the "descent" in April would be 1,000 tonnes, as this was the stock level on 1.04.2021.
