High tunnel raspberry prices in Bronisze amid limited supply and weather challenges

2026-07-08 06:52

Wholesale prices for Polish raspberries at the Bronisze market reached €7.0–8.2/kg (30–35 PLN/kg) in early July 2026, with supply limited by recent heatwaves and a shift to tunnel-grown fruit.

On the Bronisze wholesale market near Warsaw in early July 2026, the price for Polish raspberries from tunnel cultivation was reported at approximately €7.0–8.2/kg (30–35 PLN/kg). Supply of field-grown raspberries was reduced due to a period of high temperatures, with daily maximums reaching up to 40°C in some regions, negatively affecting both yield and fruit quality. The market is currently dominated by tunnel-grown raspberries, as open-field production suffered from the heat and subsequent weather shifts.

Demand for raspberries on the wholesale market has been unstable. Many small traders and market sellers reduced their activity during the hottest days, leading to irregular daily sales and further limiting the regularity of raspberry deliveries to wholesale points. Retail and market demand remains sensitive to both price and quality, with premium fruit preferred by larger buyers and supermarkets.

The main harvest of summer raspberries is ongoing, but growers are facing increased challenges from fungal diseases such as Botrytis cinerea (grey mold) and powdery mildew. The arrival of cooler weather and intermittent rainfall in early July has created conditions conducive to rapid disease development, further threatening fruit quality and shelf life. Growers are limited in their use of fungicides during harvest due to short pre-harvest intervals, which can impact marketable volumes.

Growers noted significant pressure from pests, particularly spider mites, which weakened plant condition in the previous season and required intensive recovery programs to restore root and shoot vitality. The choice of raspberry varieties remains a key consideration for producers, with 'Enrosadira' and 'Malaika' being cited as important for stable yields and postharvest durability in the current market.

The weather outlook for the coming days indicates continued instability, with forecasts of further scattered rain and storms, maintaining elevated disease risk during the peak harvest period.
