Hot Weather Limits Polish Carrot Supply, Prices Remain High in July
Polish carrot supply in early July 2026 remains tight due to ongoing hot and dry weather conditions, with new season field carrots not yet available in significant volumes.
New season Polish field carrots are not yet present in large quantities on the wholesale market as of early July 2026. The main supply continues to come from stored carrots and limited early field harvests. Wholesale prices for carrots at the Bronisze market in early July 2026 remain elevated, with offers typically in the range of €0.93–1.16/kg (4–5 PLN/kg) for good quality product. Some lots of washed carrots are offered at up to €1.40/kg (6 PLN/kg), depending on appearance and batch size.
Farm-gate prices in major carrot-producing regions, including Mazowieckie and Wielkopolskie, are reported at €0.70–0.84/kg (3–3.6 PLN/kg) for late-season storage carrots, with limited transactions due to low stocks and high temperatures slowing harvest progress. Early field carrots, where available, are sold at a premium, reaching €1.16–1.40/kg (5–6 PLN/kg) at wholesale, reflecting both novelty and limited availability.
Demand for carrots remains stable, supported by steady domestic consumption and regular orders from retail chains. However, trade volumes are limited by supply constraints. Export activity is muted; Polish carrots are not a major export product at this time of year, with most available volumes directed to the domestic market.
Weather conditions in June and early July have been marked by persistent high temperatures, frequently exceeding 30°C, and a significant lack of rainfall. This has delayed the start of the main harvest for field carrots, as well as impacting root development and yields in many regions. Producers report that unless rainfall resumes soon, further reductions in yields and quality may be expected during the main harvest period.
