Lower Plum Prices at Bronisze as Early Domestic Crop Expands

Wholesale prices for Polish plums at Bronisze have declined to €0.5–0.9/kg (2.25–4 PLN/kg) as early varieties like Kalipso and Lepotica enter the market in larger volumes.

At the Bronisze wholesale market near Warsaw, domestic plums were quoted at €0.5–0.9/kg (2.25–4 PLN/kg) on 29 July 2026. Large-fruited varieties reached €1.2–1.6/kg (5–7 PLN/kg), while type 'węgierka' plums traded at €0.6–0.8/kg (2.5–3.5 PLN/kg). This marks a notable decline compared to the previous two seasons: in 2025, starting prices were around €1.2/kg (5 PLN/kg), and in 2024, €0.8/kg (3.5 PLN/kg) for similar early varieties.

Farm-gate and group purchase prices for plums in the Grójec region and Powiśle Lubelskie were reported at €0.7/kg (3 PLN/kg) and €0.6/kg (2.5 PLN/kg) respectively for purple varieties above 35 mm diameter, with stricter maturity requirements for higher prices. Some smaller buyers in Grójec offered up to €0.7/kg (3.2 PLN/kg) for Kalipso plums.

The supply of plums increased over the weekend as more Kalipso and early Lepotica entered the market, despite some fruit being harvested slightly early from lighter soils. Katinka remains available, with prices for these early varieties generally in the €0.8/kg (3.3–3.5 PLN/kg) range at wholesale.

Harvest progress is accelerating in the main production regions, especially Grójec, as groups and buyers begin larger-scale procurement for retail distribution. Despite recent drought and intensified fruit drop, yields are described as good overall, with fruit size benefiting from recent rainfall and sunny conditions expected to boost sugar content.

Demand from wholesale and group buyers is focused on fruit meeting minimum size and maturity standards. Early market volumes are up compared to previous weeks, contributing to the downward pressure on prices.
