Maliny: Lower Ground Supply, High Tunnel Prices at Bronisze After Heatwave
Wholesale raspberry prices at the Bronisze market remain elevated, with limited ground-grown supply and tunnel-grown fruit dominating trade following recent extreme weather.
At the Bronisze wholesale market near Warsaw in early July 2026, raspberries are predominantly sourced from tunnel production, with prices ranging from €7.0 to €8.2/kg (30–35 PLN/kg). The supply of ground-grown raspberries has temporarily decreased due to the impact of recent high temperatures, which disrupted regular harvesting and reduced availability on the market.
The extreme heat, with temperatures locally reaching up to 40°C in late June and early July, created challenging conditions for both plants and fruit. Following the heatwave, cooler weather and rain have arrived, but these conditions have heightened the risk of fungal diseases such as Botrytis (grey mould), threatening post-harvest quality and increasing commercial losses for growers.
Demand at wholesale markets remained unstable during the heatwave, as many traders at local stalls and bazaars reduced their activity to a minimum. With the return of milder weather, market activity has increased, but the main supply is still tunnel-grown raspberries, which are better able to withstand weather extremes and transport requirements.
No significant data on farm-gate prices or export/import volumes for Polish raspberries were reported in the available sources for this period. The market has seen a focus on varieties with higher post-harvest durability, particularly for premium and export-oriented production, while ongoing harvesting is concentrated on summer-bearing types.
The changing weather patterns are expected to continue affecting both supply and quality of raspberries, with growers facing ongoing pressure to manage disease risks during the peak harvest period.
