Poland: Aronia Purchases to Begin as Blackcurrant and Sour Cherry Season Ends

Polish processors are preparing to begin industrial aronia purchases in August, following the end of the blackcurrant and sour cherry harvests. The Ministry of Agriculture's latest report indicates that aronia will soon be added to the list of officially monitored fruit purchase prices.

Industrial aronia purchases are set to commence in Poland as the blackcurrant and sour cherry seasons have concluded. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, aronia and possibly industrial plums will be included in the next official price report, reflecting the transition between summer berry crops and late summer fruit processing.

No official aronia purchase prices have been published for the week of 3–9 August 2026, as the main procurement by processors is just starting. For reference, other industrial fruit prices in the same period included sour cherries for freezing at €1.1/kg (4.82 PLN/kg) and for juice at €0.8/kg (3.31 PLN/kg).

The end of the blackcurrant and sour cherry season has shifted processing industry demand toward aronia. Processors are expected to begin contracting and purchasing aronia from growers in the coming weeks, as the harvest period begins in mid-August.

Weather conditions have not been specified in the latest reports, but the timing of the aronia harvest in Poland remains consistent with previous years. Buyer demand is expected to focus on aronia for juice and concentrate production, given the completion of other berry fruit deliveries.
