Imported cherries are dominating wholesale markets in Poland, with domestic supply limited by severe spring frost losses. Wholesale prices for Polish cherries at Bronisze reached up to 25 PLN/kg for the largest fruit in mid-June 2026.

At the Kraków Rybitwy wholesale market, imported cherries from Serbia are in heavy supply, with importers and small-scale vendors offering the fruit. Prices for imported cherries were quoted at 16.00 PLN/kg but sold at 14.00 PLN/kg during the weekend of 13–15 June 2026. Domestic early variety Burlat was reported as nearly unsellable in this environment.

At the Bronisze wholesale market near Warsaw, domestic cherries are available in increasing volumes, but prices remain high due to limited supply. On 15 June 2026, large-fruit Carmen cherries sold for up to 25 PLN/kg, while Summit variety traded at 18–20 PLN/kg. Smaller-sized lots were priced lower. The season is just beginning to accelerate, with the first Summits expected this week.

Spring frosts have caused significant damage to Polish cherry orchards, especially in regions like Lubelskie, where some growers report losses exceeding 90%. In Bronisławka, central Poland, estimates suggest 50–60% of a typical crop will be harvested, depending on location and frost protection measures. The Sweet Ariana variety was especially hard hit, while Kordia fared better where frost protection was used.

Unfavorable weather conditions, including late spring frosts and subsequent rainfall, have affected both the volume and quality of Polish cherries. Many traditional orchards without protective covers report low and unsatisfactory yields. Harvesting is also hampered by frequent rain, impacting fruit shelf life and marketability.

With domestic supply restricted, imported cherries continue to fill market gaps. The share of Polish cherries on the market is currently difficult to determine, as imported fruit remains widely available across wholesale platforms.
