Potato Prices Rise in Poland Amid European Market Increases
Polish wholesale potato prices have climbed in August, with current prices at Bronisze ranging from €0.15 to €0.41/kg, following strong price growth on Western European markets.
On 11 August 2026, wholesale potato prices at the Bronisze market near Warsaw ranged from €0.15 to €0.26/kg (0.66–1.10 PLN/kg) for standard potatoes. Named varieties showed higher prices: Irga potatoes traded at €0.23–0.31/kg (1.00–1.33 PLN/kg), while the Irys variety reached €0.35–0.41/kg (1.50–1.75 PLN/kg).
Rising prices in Poland reflect significant increases on Western European markets. In the Netherlands, recent PotatoNL listings show new-crop potatoes sold at €0.20–0.25/kg (20–25 EUR/100 kg), up from €0.19–0.23/kg (18.50–22.50 EUR/100 kg) the previous week. Export-grade potatoes above 40 mm diameter reached €0.25–0.28/kg (25–28 EUR/100 kg), a segment with no transactions reported a week earlier.
The price growth in Western Europe has been driven by higher demand for processing varieties such as Agria, Markies, and Victoria, which saw prices increase to €0.17–0.25/kg (17–25 EUR/100 kg) in early August. Regular Frites varieties, including Fontane and Ramos, also climbed to €0.15–0.23/kg (15–23 EUR/100 kg).
In Poland, the harvest of early and maincrop potatoes is ongoing in August. Availability at wholesale markets remains steady, but the upward trend in European prices is influencing domestic trade and buyer interest.
The Bronisze wholesale market will be closed for the Assumption holiday from 14 August at 12:00 to 15 August at 20:00, temporarily interrupting potato trading and requiring adjustments to delivery schedules.
