Raspberry Prices Fall at Bronisze as Supply Rises, Heat Limits Harvest
Wholesale prices for Polish raspberries at the Bronisze market dropped to €4.7–5.8/kg (20–25 PLN/kg) in late June, driven by higher supply from both field and tunnel crops. Extreme heat is constraining daily harvest volumes and causing fruit damage.
At the Bronisze wholesale market near Warsaw, raspberry prices decreased significantly in the second half of June 2026. As of June 24–29, wholesale prices for Polish raspberries ranged from about €4.7 to €5.8 per kilogram (20–25 PLN/kg), reflecting increased availability from both field and tunnel production. Demand for tunnel-grown raspberries remains strong, with buyers seeking them for their higher quality, but the bulk of supply now includes the first field-grown fruit.
Trade sources report that the growing supply is a direct result of the main harvest period starting for field raspberries, adding to ongoing tunnel production. However, hot weather is sharply limiting the amount of fruit harvested each day. On some farms, picking is only possible in the early morning hours (from 4:00 to 9:00), with work resuming in the evening due to high temperatures during the day.
Growers are experiencing reduced yields due to heat stress. For example, in one farm in central Poland, only 70 kg of raspberries were harvested per hectare in a single day, a very low figure for this stage of the season. Sunburned leaves and bleached, damaged fruit are visible, especially on southern-exposed rows and varieties with less leaf cover such as Glen Carron, while Glen Ample shows more resilience.
Intensive irrigation is being used to mitigate heat effects, but balancing water application is challenging. Over-irrigation risks fruit cracking, while under-irrigation worsens stress symptoms. The weather is expected to continue impacting yields and marketable quality in the coming days.
The influx of domestic raspberries is occurring in parallel with strong competition from imported fruit in other berry categories, such as cherries, but no significant raspberry imports or exports were reported for this period.
