Warsaw: Field Cucumber Prices at €0.7–1.4/kg, Imports from Armenia Possible

2026-07-22 07:21

Field and greenhouse cucumber prices at the Bronisze wholesale market in Warsaw on 22 July 2026 ranged from €0.7 to €1.6/kg. The EU may see increased imports of Armenian cucumbers following changes in trade policy.

At the Bronisze wholesale market near Warsaw on 22 July 2026, field cucumbers (ogórki gruntowe) were quoted at €0.7–1.4/kg (3–6 PLN/kg), while short greenhouse cucumbers (ogórki spod osłon krótkie) were priced at €1.2–1.6/kg (5–7 PLN/kg). Pickled cucumbers (ogórki kwaszone) traded at €2.5–2.8/kg (11–12 PLN/kg), and lightly salted cucumbers (ogórki małosolne) at €3.5–4.2/kg (15–18 PLN/kg). These prices reflect current supply and demand dynamics in the peak of the domestic cucumber season.

Polish cucumber supply remains stable, with both field and greenhouse harvests ongoing. The quality and firmness of cucumbers are increasingly important for trade value, especially during periods of high temperatures and fluctuating soil moisture, which can impact nutrient uptake and crop quality.

Buyer demand for cucumbers in Poland is strong in July, corresponding with traditional consumption patterns and the availability of fresh domestic produce. The market also features processed cucumber products, such as pickled and lightly salted types, which command higher prices than fresh cucumbers.

Weather conditions in July continue to influence both the pace of the harvest and the quality of cucumbers, with producers monitoring water and nutrient management to maintain product standards and reduce the risk of physiological disorders.

On the import side, new trade developments may affect the cucumber market. The European Commission is considering easing import tariffs for selected Armenian vegetables, including cucumbers. If Armenian exporters meet EU requirements, more cucumbers from Armenia may appear on the Polish and European markets in the coming months.
