Warsaw Region: Greenhouse Cucumber Prices Rise Sharply at Bronisze

Wholesale prices for smooth greenhouse cucumbers at the Bronisze market near Warsaw increased significantly in mid-June 2026 due to a sudden drop in supply after many growers ended production.

Smooth greenhouse cucumbers at the Bronisze wholesale market saw prices rise sharply from around €0.7/kg (3 PLN/kg) to €1.2–1.4/kg (5–6 PLN/kg) in the second half of June 2026. This jump follows a period of several months with very low prices, leading many producers to stop production, which abruptly reduced supply on the market.

The price increase was most pronounced for smooth-skinned greenhouse cucumbers, which are a key segment at this time of year. Traders and producers attribute the reduced availability to the early end of production cycles and the impact of recent weather conditions, including cold nights.

Cold nighttime temperatures, in some regions falling to 5°C, have limited the growth and harvest volumes of greenhouse cucumbers. This weather factor has contributed directly to the tightening of supply and the observed price hikes on wholesale markets.

There is currently no information on the export or import volumes of cucumbers in Poland for this period. Buyer demand at wholesale markets remains robust, but availability is lower than in previous weeks due to the supply constraints.

Other vegetables, such as zucchini and string beans, have also experienced price fluctuations as a result of similar weather-related supply issues, while prices for tomatoes and cabbage vegetables remain stable.
