Warsaw: White Cabbage Prices Stable, Supply Under Pressure from Pest Damage

Wholesale prices for white cabbage in the Warsaw region on 24 July 2026 ranged from €0.22 to €0.30/kg, with producers facing challenges from pest infestations affecting quality and marketability.

At the Bronisze wholesale market near Warsaw on 24 July 2026, white cabbage (kapusta biała) traded at €0.22–0.30/kg (0.95–1.3 PLN/kg). Young white cabbage was sold at €0.69–0.81 per piece (3–3.5 PLN/sztuka). Red cabbage (kapusta czerwona) prices stood at €0.23–0.30/kg (1–1.3 PLN/kg), while sauerkraut (kapusta kwaszona) ranged from €0.92 to €1.27/kg (4–5.5 PLN/kg). Savoy cabbage (kapusta włoska) was offered at €0.69–0.92/kg (3–4 PLN/kg), and Chinese cabbage (kapusta pekińska) at €0.87–1.04/kg (3.75–4.5 PLN/kg). These prices reflect ongoing strong competition among domestic and imported cabbage varieties on the Polish market.

Growers are reporting increased pressure from thrips infestations, particularly on young cabbage leaves. The pest activity is most intense in July, as thrips migrate from drying cereal fields. Damage is often not visible initially, but leads to scarring and quality deterioration, which can render cabbage unsellable on demanding markets.

Buyer demand for domestic cabbage remains steady, but producers are concerned about the impact of pest damage on commercial quality, especially for fresh market sales. There is no mention of significant export activity or changes in import levels in the current period.

Weather conditions earlier in the season, including periods of unfavorable weather, have contributed to additional stress for cabbage crops. This has increased the risk of yield losses and quality downgrades in some regions.

The supply of marketable cabbage is being closely monitored as pest pressure and weather-related challenges may affect harvest volumes and the proportion of produce suitable for wholesale and retail trade.
