The prices of Chinese cabbage have managed to maintain a record level.
The 2024/2025 season of Chinese cabbage in Poland is starting to resemble the 2021/2022 campaign more and more. Just like back then, the prices of "pekiny" cabbage are staying at a higher level than in previous years. The difference compared to the situation three years ago is that back then, the prices of this cabbage in the Polish wholesale market didn't experience the extremes witnessed this summer.
But now, in the second half of October, the price reality is very similar to that of autumn 2021. However, it is at a slightly higher level. A level that has managed to stay above previous seasons. This is due to the fact that the selling prices of Polish "pekinki" cabbage in the wholesale market have risen again. Currently, they are at a level of 2.30-3.50 PLN/kg, on average 16 percent higher than at the end of last week.
The question is whether these higher prices will be sustained. Analysis from November 2021 and 2023 shows that with similar price levels, there were corrective declines. Not significant, but still corrections. Such a scenario for the coming weeks is quite likely. Prices will fluctuate, but without a clear trend. Neither downward nor upward. A change in this situation will most likely come after the New Year. That's when prices from August of this year may return.
