Ten years of tomato in Spain: stable surfaces, markets on the move

In the last ten years, the cultivated area for tomatoes in Spain has remained between 43 and 47 thousand hectares, with a production of 4-5 million tons. Two-thirds of the production goes to the industry, while 1.5 million tons are used for the fresh market. Domestic consumption has decreased to 12 kg per capita.
