Domestic raspberry season at its end in Poland

The marketing season for domestic raspberries in Poland on the wholesale fresh fruit market has definitely entered its final phase. Of course, Polish raspberries will still be available on the small wholesale market. For how long? It depends on the weather. If the nice weather of early August returns, raspberries could still be available for a couple of weeks. If the synoptic forecasts are confirmed and the weather is similar to the current one, the season will end sooner.

However, the end of the season is much closer for the large wholesalers. It is therefore tempting to make a preliminary summary. First of all, it should be noted that this year's season was marked from the very beginning by a low raspberry harvest. And problems with supply of this fruit turned out to be the dominant feature of the whole season.

This is especially true for the purchase of raspberries for processing, where the lack of raw material was particularly acute, which translated into historically high prices. Even up to 18.00-19.00 zł/kg! As for dessert raspberries, prices were also generally high, although the differences from last year were smaller than in processing. There were times when the average price of dessert raspberries was below that of last year, as you can see in our graph.

But in general, prices have remained high. Currently, they are in the range of 24.00-32.00 zlotys per kilo for larger-scale wholesale trade. This is less than 8 per cent above the level of the same period last year, but already 22 per cent more expensive than two years ago.
