Domestic strawberries are still available on the Polish market

2021-10-06 09:56
Poland's golden autumn means that although it is already quite chilly at nights, during the day we have sunny and even warm weather. This aura has contributed to prolonging the season for domestic strawberries. Therefore, Polish fresh strawberries from tunnel crops are still available to the small wholesalers.

Of course, in October even the small wholesalers' supply of domestic strawberries is not large. However, it is worth noting that this year it remains at a relatively high level. Availability is certainly greater than in previous years and this is reflected in prices. This is partly the result of the above-mentioned favourable weather conditions, but it is also due to an increase in the production of late tunnel varieties, which achieve much higher prices than in-season fruit.

Currently, the prices of such strawberries in small wholesalers amount to 10.00-18.00 PLN/kg, depending on quality and the region of the country. The prices are the most expensive in the Bronisze district near Warsaw, due to the absorptive capacity of the capital's market. The current prices are slightly lower than in the two previous seasons. Now, the average price is 14.00 PLN/kg and remains quite stable. In the same period last year it was 15.00 PLN/kg and there was a clear upward trend. Two years ago the average was at 15.50 PLN/kg and was also rising.
