2021-04-29 10:37
According to the Central Statistical Office (CSO), the year 2020 brought an increase in the value of Polish agri-food export from EUR 31.8 billion to EUR 34.0 billion, i.e. by 7 per cent. It is worth noting that this was achieved despite the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic.

The increase in the value of these exports in the relationship of the first half of 2019 to the same period of 2020 was slightly more dynamic than in the second half of the year, at 8.3 per cent. The increase in the relationship of the second half of 2019 to the same period of 2020 was 5.8 per cent.

The value of crop production exports between 2019 and 2020 increased from 4.8 to 5.7 billion EUR, or by 19.6 per cent. In the relation of the first half of 2019 to the same period of 2020, the increase here was 25.8 per cent, definitely more than between the second half of the year, when it was +14.2 per cent. Let us add that the export value of crop production is 16.9 per cent of the export value of all agri-food production in 2020.

As for imports of agri-food production, between 2019 and 2020 their value increased from 21.3 billion EUR to 22.3 billion EUR, or 4.9 per cent.

The increase in the value of these imports between the first half of 2019 and the same period of 2020 was 6.6 per cent, and between the second half of 2019 and the same period of 2020 it was an increase of 3.1 per cent.

The value of imports of crop production between 2019 and 2020 increased from PLN 5.5 billion to  €5.8 billion, or by 5.7 per cent. Between the first half of 2019 and the same period of 2020, the increase here was 5.7 per cent, and between the second half of 2019 and the second half of 2020 it was +5.6 per cent. Let us add that the value of imports of crop production in 2020 accounted for 26.1 per cent of the value of all agri-food imports, so the share was significantly higher than for exports.

The balance of foreign trade in agri-food production remains positive. It was EUR 10.5 billion in 2019 and EUR 11.7 billion in 2020, so the balance improved by EUR 1.2 billion.
