Celery prices are also in the upward trend in Poland

2021-02-12 11:14
After the mid-December plunge last year, celery prices in the Polish wholesale market have stagnated, as has the demand for this vegetable. However, it was not only Polish producers and wholesalers who experienced problems selling celery. The situation was similar in other European countries.

It was only the arrival of the cold winter that triggered a revival in the celery trade. Also in Poland. The frosty weather has reduced the supply of washed celery and at the same time will slightly improve retail demand. Conditions have changed to such an extent that celery prices at large wholesalers have actually jumped by 40 percent. Currently the selling prices of washed celery, packed in bags, are at a level of 1.00-1.80 PLN/kg, depending on quality, calibre and region of the country.

So it looks as if the celery market is now past the low point of the season and should now be expected to rise gradually over the long term. This will undoubtedly be supported by the continuation of the frosty weather until at least the end of February. The longer we have frost, the more prices will gain. However, as long as catering is blocked (open - restaurants, closed - canteens and events such as weddings, anniversaries, etc.), there will be no clear improvement in demand for these vegetables.
