More cauliflowers on the Polish market

2021-09-17 11:25
This summer's weather has not been easy for vegetable growers, including cauliflower, which is very sensitive to meteorological conditions. It turned autumnal at the end of August and the current supply of cauliflower across Europe was low, while its wholesale prices rose sharply. In the Polish large wholesalers, selling prices rose to an average of 4.00 PLN/piece, the highest since the beginning of June this year. on average - the highest since early June this year, when the cauliflower campaign was still in its early stages.

However, the beginning of September brought an improvement in the weather, with synoptics forecasting the return of true summer for the following days. It was therefore clear that the supply of cauliflowers should improve. Indeed, in recent days we have seen an increase in the availability of these vegetables. The quality has also improved. Once again, we are seeing white, robust roses in shops and on markets. This does not mean, however, that we have an excess of these vegetables on the Polish market.

This can be seen in prices, which have fallen but are still relatively high. Currently, the selling prices in the large wholesalers are usually between 2.80 and 3.80 PLN per piece, depending on the calibre and quality. This gives an average of 3.30 PLN/piece, which is at the same level as a year ago. This is still a high price, as shown in our chart below - higher than in the corresponding period of the ten previous seasons (2010-2019).
