More domestic sweet pepper on the Polish market

2021-07-01 12:10
The domestic sweet pepper season in Poland is still at a very early stage. Only recently, peppers from Polish greenhouses have appeared on the market. Its supply remains low, although it has increased noticeably in recent days. This is enough to translate into prices.

First of all, buying prices, because they react the quickest. This concerns purchase for the fresh market as purchase for processing will start much later. Buying for the fresh market, the prices of green peppers have dropped this week from 5.00 PLN/kg to 3.00 PLN/kg, and white peppers from 6.00 PLN/kg to 4.00 PLN/kg.

In wholesale (so far, this wholesale is not on a very large scale) green pepper prices have fallen from 6.00-7.00 zł/kg to 5.00-6.50 PLN/kg. As for white peppers, their prices have dropped from 7.00-8.00 PLN/kg to 6.00-7.00 PLN/kg. Looking at previous seasons, we can see that these are still relatively high prices. The last time prices were so high at the beginning of the season was in 2012, but even then the fall in prices was much more dynamic and in early July prices were lower than now.
