Still not much of young Chinese cabbage in Poland

2021-05-06 11:46
The trading season for Chinese cabbage from the 2020 harvest is already in its final phase. In fact, it can be said that it is already finished in the large wholesalers. Because there is very little commercial quality of "old" Chinese cabbage left. And its prices at the end of the season have remained at a record high level. They are selling at 5.00-6.00 zlotys per kilo at the large wholesaler.

As for domestic young Chinese cabbage, its supply has increased slightly since it came on the market, but this was a small increase. Its quantities on the market are still small, which is also reflected in prices. At present, young 'pekinka' is being offered by growers at between 4.00 and 5.50 zlotys per kilo. The weather, which has been cold and not very sunny recently, is still preventing a quick increase in the availability of this vegetable.

The supply of imported young Chinese cabbage is no better. The weather here is also to blame, as it is the same as in Poland in much of Europe. Some Chinese cabbages from Spain and Hungary are coming to Poland and import prices are 5.00-5.60 PLN/kg.
