The new celery season has started in Poland

This year the new season for domestic celeriac in Poland has again started with a delay, as was the case for many other vegetables, due to unfavorable weather conditions in the spring, which prolonged the vegetation. We write "again" because that year, too, the season of these vegetables began with a delay.

But a year ago, despite the slippage, prices for these vegetables were relatively low. At the end of July 2020 it was 2.00-2.40 PLN/kg. At that time, the old season transitioned smoothly into the new one due to celery stocks from the autumn harvest and limited demand for this vegetable.

Now we have a slightly different situation. Holiday demand may not be impressive, but the supply of celery is also lower than in the same period last year. In addition, the current weather is not making production and harvesting any easier. As a result, prices for young trimmed celeriac are significantly higher. Wholesale offers from producers are most often at 3.00-3.40 PLN/kg, although there are still higher offers. Old" celeriac is still on the market, with prices usually at 2.40-2.50 PLN/kg for good quality roots.
