The supply of Brussels sprouts on the Polish market is growing

2021-09-15 10:55
November and December are the periods when demand for Brussels sprouts is highest. Also in Poland, although this vegetable is not as popular as in Holland or Great Britain. However, neither there nor in Poland does Brussels sprouts enjoy high consumer interest in summer. Despite this, domestic Brussels sprouts have been available on the Polish fresh vegetable market since August.

This year, the weather during the growing season was not easy for vegetable producers, including brassica vegetables. Despite this, the supply of Brussels sprouts is growing by the week and wholesale prices are already reacting to this growth.  The season started in August with wholesale prices of 8.00-10.00 zlotys per kilo, now it is 6.00-8.00 zlotys per kilo, so we have a decrease of about one fifth.

The quantities available are limited and the prices quoted are not low, even despite the described discount. You can see that there is significantly less Brussels sprouts than a year ago, when at this time of year wholesale prices started at 4.00 zlotys per kilo, although most often it was 6.00 zlotys per kilo.
