2021-06-02 09:35
WAPA estimates that apple stocks as of 1.05.2021 in the EU countries surveyed amounted to 1,313,305 tonnes (excluding Portugal). Recall that stocks on 1.04.2021 were estimated at 1,922,817 tonnes. This means that in March last year, apple stocks decreased by 609,512 tonnes, or 31.7 per cent. In March 2021, the relative decrease in the amount of stored apples was 28.9 percent.

Recall also that apple stocks as of 1.05.2020 were 1,125,239 tonnes in the EU countries. This means that year-on-year stocks are 188,036 tonnes or 16.7 per cent higher. In March this indicator was +8.1 per cent.

As for Poland, WAPA estimates the stock of apples on 1.05.2021 at 398,000 tonnes. The graph above shows that Poland maintains second place in terms of apple stocks among the countries surveyed. You can also see a clear difference between the level of stocks in Italy and Poland and the other countries.

One month earlier, as of 1.04.2021, 592,000 tonnes. It follows that the "descent" of apples from Polish warehouses amounted to 194,000 tonnes in April 2021, or 32.8 per cent of the stock on 1.04. And this was the largest "descent" among the main EU apple producers (second-placed Italy "sold out" of 192,000 tonnes of apples in April and third-placed France 81,000 tonnes).

Let's add that a year earlier, Poland's apple stocks as at 1.05.2020 were only 163,000 tonnes, so now they are up by 235,000 tonnes, or 144 per cent higher year-on-year. In April this figure was +67 percent.
