Vegetable exports fro Poland (2012-2021)

The volume of vegetable exports from Poland in 2021 broke the downward trend of the previous two years, but it was not above the level of 2018 (the last year of the previous growth period, started in 2015). The case is different with the value of Polish vegetable exports - here we had a decline only in 2020, while 2021 brought a continuation of the increase.

How does this look in numbers?
Polish vegetable exports (aggregated category CN 07 - VEGETABLES AND CERTAIN edible roots and tubers) in 2021 amounted to 1384 thousand tonnes (1.4 billion tonnes) and 5704 million zlotys (5.7 billion zlotys), respectively. This increased compared to 2020 by 136 thousand tonnes or 10.9 per cent in volume terms and by PLN 550 million or 10.7 per cent in value terms.

As mentioned above, the value of these exports continued the growth interrupted only in 2020, but the quantity, despite breaking the downward trend, did not exceed the level of 2018. It remained lower than it by 0.7 per cent/. So there was not much missing.

Looking at the individual categories of the CN 07 group, we see that the largest item in terms of export value was mushrooms of the genus Agaricus (CN 070951), so de facto mushrooms. The value of exports of this group in 2021 amounted to PLN 1.8 billion. In second place, with a value of PLN 820 million, were frozen vegetables from the CN 071080 category, however, it should be remembered that this is a category containing many types of vegetables. Similarly, the third place went to the category "Dried vegetables and mixtures of vegetables" CN 071290, with a value of PLN 387 million. A more homogeneous category took fourth place - Tomatoes, fresh or chilled CN 070200, with a value of PLN 344 million. In fifth place was the category comprising onions (CN 070310 - Onions and shallots, fresh or chilled) with a value of PLN 299 million.

From among fresh vegetables, the top ten items of Polish exports from CN group 07 also included: cabbages (070490 - Cabbage, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas, excluding cauliflowers, broccoli and Brussels sprouts, fresh or chilled) with a value of 119 million PLN, and fresh peppers (CN 070960 - Fruits fresh or chilled of the genus Capsicum or of the genus Pimenta) with a value of 97 million PLN.
