Polish Raspberry Market: Low Supply, High Prices at Start of Field Season
Polish wholesale raspberry prices remain elevated, with slow supply growth and industrial procurement starting from €2.3–2.8/kg for lower grades. Weather-related damage and weak plant condition are limiting volumes.
On the Bronisze wholesale market near Warsaw, raspberry prices in late June 2026 show high volatility. Prices fell as low as €7.0/kg (30 PLN/kg) in recent days but rebounded to about €9.3/kg (40 PLN/kg) after heavy rainfall reduced immediate supply and affected fruit quality. Trade sources report that market instability persists due to limited and uneven deliveries from domestic growers.
Farm-gate procurement for industrial processing has just started in Poland, with initial base prices at €2.1/kg (9.00 PLN/kg) for second-class raspberries and €2.8/kg (12.00 PLN/kg) for extra class, as of June 19–21. Growers in the Kraśnik region report plantings in poor condition, with many plantations suffering from spring frost damage and lack of irrigation, resulting in sharply reduced yields and delayed main-crop harvests. First field-grown raspberries have only just reached some smaller processors, while most larger-scale collection is yet to begin.
Supply from open-field crops remains very limited, with most fruit still coming from protected (tunnel) production. Spring frosts, with temperatures dropping to -3°C during early flowering, caused significant damage to both tunnel and open-field raspberries, destroying initial flowers and delaying harvest by up to two weeks in uncovered plots. Regeneration from surviving shoots is ongoing, but overall yield potential is diminished.
Buyer demand for high-quality dessert raspberries is strong, but fungal issues, especially sooty mold linked to high air humidity and nectar secretion during flowering, have reduced marketable quality in some batches. Even minor surface blemishes are negatively impacting the saleability of fresh-market fruit, according to wholesalers.
Polish raspberry growers are facing a fourth consecutive poor season for summer-bearing field raspberries, with costs only covered at farm-gate prices above €2.1/kg (9 PLN/kg). Trade sources note that industrial raspberry prices in Ukraine are currently higher, influencing raw material flows and procurement strategies in the region.
