The supply of domestic young potatoes has surged in Poland, pushing imported potatoes out of the market and leading to a decrease in wholesale prices at major markets like Bronisze.

The Polish wholesale market is currently dominated by domestic young potatoes, with imported varieties from Egypt and Cyprus playing a minimal role. At the Bronisze wholesale market, the supply has increased significantly, resulting in a notable price decrease for the main varieties. As of mid-June 2026, the price for the Irga variety at Bronisze is €0.47/kg (2 PLN/kg), matching last week's price for the Riviera variety. Arrow and Riviera varieties, which previously traded at €0.47/kg, have now dropped to €0.35/kg (1.5 PLN/kg).

The volume of sellers at Bronisze has increased compared to the previous week, reflecting the abundance of new crop potatoes from Polish fields. The price differences between varieties have narrowed, with the Irga variety maintaining a slight premium over others. Traditionally imported potatoes now represent only a marginal share of the trade, as domestic supply is sufficient to meet current demand.

Buyer demand for young potatoes remains steady, but the increased domestic availability has shifted preferences away from imports. The 15 kg bag of Irga potatoes at Bronisze is now selling for €7 (30 PLN), making Polish produce highly competitive in the market. Reports indicate that imported potatoes are largely absent from wholesale transactions.

Favourable weather conditions in late spring and early summer supported a timely harvest, contributing to the large supply seen in June. There are no reports of significant weather disruptions affecting yields or quality in the main production regions.

No significant exports of Polish young potatoes are reported at this time, and the market focus remains on domestic trade. The dominance of local produce and falling prices are shaping current commercial activity.
