Polish young potatoes now dominate the domestic market, with imported product playing a minor role and wholesale prices dropping amid increased supply.

The supply of Polish young potatoes has grown significantly in June, leading to a clear dominance of domestic product in trade. Imported potatoes from Egypt and Cyprus now represent only a small share of the Polish market. On the Bronisze wholesale market near Warsaw, the price for the popular Irga variety was €0.47/kg (2 PLN/kg) as of mid-June 2026, with a 15 kg sack sold for €7 (30 PLN). This price reflects a slight decrease compared to the previous week and brings Irga in line with last week's price for the Riviera variety.

Other main varieties, such as Arrow and Riviera, also saw price reductions at Bronisze. Their prices dropped from €0.47/kg (2 PLN/kg) to €0.35/kg (1.5 PLN/kg) during the third week of June. Across the market, wholesale prices for domestic young potatoes ranged from €0.47 to €0.82/kg (2–3.5 PLN/kg), with the highest prices still recorded for the Mazovian Irga variety. Imported potatoes from Cyprus and Egypt were available at €0.58–0.63/kg (2.5–2.7 PLN/kg), but demand for these imports has decreased in favor of Polish product.

The increased availability of domestic young potatoes is attributed to the ongoing harvest, which has ramped up in June. The market is well supplied, with many growers present at wholesale points, and the differences in prices between varieties are narrowing as volumes grow. No information is currently available regarding export volumes or significant import flows, as trade is focused on domestic supply.

Demand remains robust for Polish young potatoes, aided by their freshness and consumer preference over imported alternatives. Weather conditions in June, including some cooler nights, have not significantly disrupted supply, and the harvest continues at pace in major production regions.
