Large losses in pome fruit in Catalonia due to water shortages
Afrucat, the Catalan Fruit Business Association, presents the first estimates forecast by the organisation as a result of the closure of the Urgell canal, which reach up to 58% losses in the Catalan apple crop (173,000t), 52% in the pear crop (74,000t) and the disappearance of 30% of the total fruit harvested in Catalonia this season (284,000t).
