The first offers to sell aronia berries are already available.

The fruit market in Poland is operating this summer well ahead of the "normal" calendar. The aronia crop will also not be an exception in this regard. The harvest of these fruits in Poland is just beginning. The first offers for the sale of aronia with delivery dates in the first days of August have already appeared. What prices are starting the 2024 aronia campaign with?

The earliest sales offers were at prices of 5.00 PLN/kg (1.17 EUR/kg). This is also the level at which aronia is currently being sold in small wholesale quantities at local wholesale markets. However, yesterday and today there were offers with a selling price of 3.00 PLN/kg (0.70 EUR/kg). So, we have a downward trend before real trading has really started. Were the initial expectations of the producers too high?

Certainly, these initial proposed prices are fundamentally higher than those seen at the beginning of previous seasons. In 2023, the campaign started with an average purchase price of 1.00 PLN/kg (0.23 EUR/kg), and in 2022, it was 1.15 PLN/kg (0.27 EUR/kg). In both of those seasons, the average purchase price of aronia did not exceed the 1.15 PLN/kg (0.27 EUR/kg) mark.

It is known, however, that this season will be more expensive. This was the case with almost all fruits. Perhaps not from the beginning of the season, as in May and June the purchase prices for seasonal fruits were worse than bad. Nevertheless, throughout the summer, the market evolved towards significantly higher prices for all fruits, so aronia should not be an exception here.
