Studying approaches to shorten the blooming period of dahlias

Greenhouse growers have reported delayed or inconsistent flowering in potted dahlias. A recent study from Michigan State University (MSU) has shown that exposing the plants to five to 10 short days can help accelerate flowering while also minimizing tuber production. In Figure 1, it is observed that for the Dahlia 'Venti Tequila Sunrise', the time to flower was slightly shorter.
