Hamburg: Vegetable cultivation area constant, number of farms declining
In Hamburg, vegetables were grown on a total of 659 ha in 2022. The area under cultivation thus remained at the level of the previous year (2021: 655 ha). However, the number of farms fell by three percent to 67 farms, according to the Statistical Office North.
In the open as well as under foil tunnels and in greenhouses (so-called high walk-in protective covers), around 9,600 t of vegetables and 15 t of strawberries
were grown.
