WAPA has published an updated estimate of pear stocks. As far as the European Union countries are concerned, stocks of this fruit, as of 1 February 2021, amounted to 593,365 tonnes. The vast majority of these stocks, 470,074 tonnes, are Conference pears. A month earlier, the volume of pear stocks was estimated at 756,710 tonnes. read more

The export volume of carrots (CN category 07061000 - Carrots and turnips, fresh or chilled) amounted to 21.9 thousand tonnes in 2020, and its value to PLN 36.5 million. This represents a year-on-year decrease in terms of volume and value. read more

Poland's export volume of frozen sour cherries (CN 08119075 - Sour cherries (Prunus cerasus) uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water, frozen, not containing added sugar or other sweetening matter) amounted, in 2020, to 52.6 thousand tonnes, and its value reached PLN 244.0 million. This means a decline in exports in this category, especially in volume terms. read more

Volume of potato imports (categories: CN 07019090 - Potatoes, fresh or chilled except seed potatoes, potatoes for starch production, from 1 July to 31 December, and CN 07019050 - Potatoes, fresh or chilled except seed potatoes, potatoes for starch production, young, from 1 January to 30 June) to Poland amounted to 184.1 thousand tonnes in 2020, and its value to PLN 211.3 million. read more

The export volume of frozen strawberries from Poland (CN 081110 category - Strawberries and strawberries uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water, frozen, whether or not containing added sugar or other sweeteners) amounted to 87.4 thousand tonnes in 2020, and its value to 609.2 million PLN. This means a year-on-year decrease. read more

The volume of tomatoes (CN category 070200) imported to Poland in 2020 amounted to 173.1 thousand tonnes, and its value to 1047.7 million PLN (1.0 billion PLN). This means an increase in imports in this category both in terms of the quantitative aspect and its value. read more

The import volume of fresh strawberries (081010 - Strawberries and strawberries, fresh) to Poland in 2020 amounted to 17.0 thousand tonnes, and its value to 150.9 million PLN. This means a year-on-year decrease in the volume of imports in this category, but with an increase in its value. read more

The volume of potato exports (category 070190 - Potatoes, fresh or chilled, excluding seed potatoes) in 2020 amounted to 26.2 thousand tonnes and its value to PLN 26.3 million. This means a decline in exports in this category, especially in value terms. read more

The volume of strawberry exports from Poland (CN 081010 - Strawberries and strawberries, fresh) in 2020 amounted to 14.9tys tonnes, and its value to 59.8 million PLN. This means an increase and a very large increase year-on-year. read more

The production and sale of strawberries is not an easy industry in Poland even in "normal" times. It is always a great unknown how many strawberries will be picked in Poland in a given season as the yield of these fruits is strongly dependent on weather factors. read more

The volume of pear imports to Poland (CN category 080830 - Fresh pears) amounted to 47.8 thousand tonnes in 2020, while its value reached PLN 205.6 million. This represents a year-on-year increase both in terms of volume and value. read more

The volume of apple imports (CN category 080810 - Fresh apples) to Poland amounted to 21.5 thousand tonnes in 2020, with a value of 86.1 million PLN. This is not much compared to Poland's apple exports. But at the same time, it is a much larger import than the year before. read more

In the large potato producing countries of north-western Europe, such as the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, trade in potatoes for the fresh market and for processing was fairly stable in February, with some recovery in Belgium and the Netherlands in terms of spot transactions. read more

The beginning of 2021 saw a fall in the purchase prices of industrial apples, but then, at the end of January and the beginning of February, trade in industrial apples revived and prices rose. The changes may not have been dramatic, but they brought the prices of both industrial apples and dry industrial apples back to the levels seen in the first week of January. read more

The real winter we have had this season has clearly affected the situation on the fresh vegetable market in Poland. Most of the main domestic winter offer vegetables have gained in price on the big wholesale market. The situation in the wholesale market for Chinese cabbage has changed most dynamically. read more

In February the availability of grapes on the Polish market is still limited, especially light grapes. They are mainly imported from South America and their prices are high in winter. Imports from India are only just beginning to reach European markets, and in Poland the popularity of Indian grapes is less than that of South American grapes. read more

In the previous week the prices of the sweet pepper imported from Spain slightly decreased in the Polish wholesale. These were not large changes, of the order of 6-7 percent. Consumers could hope for further corrections, because in Spain the biggest drop in prices took place last Saturday. read more

Banana prices in the Polish wholesale market have been on the rise since October 2020, with fairly long periods of price stability between increases. It was only at the end of the first half of January that the upward trend in banana prices gained momentum. read more

Traders' interest in Red Jonaprince apples remains one of the higher among the major Polish varieties. Provided that their quality is at a good level, which is not easy. As is typical for this variety, storage is difficult and the percentage of good quality stocks is decreasing. read more

Cauliflowers are one of the vegetables whose prices are highly correlated with the current weather. And as we are now in winter in Europe, their prices remain at a relatively high level. They are higher than in the same period last year. read more
