Clock auction - is this the way to sell strawberries in Poland?
In September last year, on the occasion of the International Strawberry Congress (ISC 2022), an event whose main organiser was the Hoogstraten cooperative, I had the opportunity to visit, among other things, the group's facilities. This was not my first visit to the Belgian organisation's headquarters, but this time the hosts invited me and other visitors into the room where the fruit and vegetable auctions are held. This is how most of the strawberries going to Hoogstraten are disposed of, and picked on the approximately 900 ha of plantations run by the group's members.
