Costa Rica prepares for the effects of La Niña on pineapples

According to the National Chamber of Pineapple Producers and Exporters (CANAPEP), 84% of pineapples exported to the USA came from Costa Rica in September 2023. According to CANAPEP, pineapple, which is produced all year round, also contributes 34% to the country's agricultural gross domestic product (GDP), which corresponds to 1.9% of Costa Rica's total GDP.
