This year, during Easter, supermarket brands such as Coop, Conad, Esselunga and discounters such as Lidl, Aldi and Eurospin decided not to take risks with big discounts on products such as strawberries, pineapples, tomatoes and potatoes. Although the offers on these products are quite similar, there are no aggressive prices.

This is a defensive choice in order to avoid losing margins during a major sales period like Easter. Although there are some exceptions such as Esselunga with the strawberry basket at a 30% discount or Eurospin with the pineapple at EUR 0.99 per kilo, for the most part there is nothing striking. The brands have chosen to have a quiet Easter, with 'safe' products that will guarantee continuity in volumes without too much stress on margins.
