Prices of industrial apples are still going up.

The prices of industrial apples have risen in recent days. What's important is that they have increased to a level higher than before the decrease at the end of September. Currently, the purchase prices for regular industrial apples range from 1.05 to even 1.20 PLN/kg, depending on the quantity and region. Dry industrial apples are priced at 1.10-1.30 PLN/kg. The highest prices are paid for apples for peeling, but it is known that there are also rates of 1.40 PLN/kg for Idared variety.

So, we have prices that are on average 4 percent higher than before the last decrease. But that's not all. The current level of prices for regular industrial apples is historically high. Higher than what was paid, for example, in October 2017. According to the opinions of many market participants, this trend is not over yet. The gap between high demand and the available supply of raw materials is so significant that there is still potential for an increase.

It is precisely this supply gap for raw materials for concentrate and juice production that is the main driving force behind the increase in purchase prices. Many believe that as long as concentrate prices remain high, industrial apples will continue to be sought after. In the conditions of a poorer harvest this year, it will be necessary to pay well to obtain the raw material. The question is, could this be a bubble that will burst with a bang in the future? In other words, are we facing a repeat of the industrial raspberry market scenario?
