New pest alert in South Africa already affecting citrus, persimmons and avocados

The South African Cotonet (Delottococcus aberiae) is not the only pest present in this third country that is wreaking havoc in European citriculture. The Valencian Association of Farmers (AVA-ASAJA) is calling for extreme control measures to halt the advance of the quarantine pest Scirtothrips aurantii which, since its detection in our country in 2020, has expanded so much

that it has become a major pest in Europe.
