GAL, a promising banana variety developed by the Israeli company Raham Meristem, is resistant to Fusarium race 4 fungus, a soil pathogen that has severely impacted banana plantations, particularly in northern Peru. This variety was recently introduced in Piura. Development of GAL began in 2018 and it shows great potential in combating the disease.
