Droushia deputy mayor Sotiris Koupparis emphasized the difficulties that banana farmers are encountering as a result of water shortages, pointing out that the complete extent of the impact has yet to be evaluated. Even with recent rainfall, Cyprus' reservoirs are only at a quarter of their capacity. Regions supplied by the Mavrokolympos dam also depend on the Paphos water supply.
