Stephen Brennan, 31, appeared before Longford District Court for stealing beef from a supermarket by misrepresenting it as bananas at the self-service till. Charged with theft of a fillet and a round roast of beef from Davis SuperValu on two separate occasions, Brennan employed a tactic where he scanned the beef as cheaper bananas, with the items valued at €10.49 and €13.99.
