Berries are still being bought.
The harvest of blackberries is still ongoing, although this year it seemed like it would be very short. We have definitely passed the peak supply of these forest fruits, and the peak demand from industrial buyers has also passed. Nonetheless, there is still demand for blackberries - both in the fresh market and in processing.
So, what is the situation on the blackberry market at the end of this year's campaign? As mentioned earlier, the demand is no longer at its peak but is still significant. Blackberries are benefiting to some extent from the fact that there are fewer other soft fruits this year, especially given the much earlier than usual end of the strawberry and currant season.
To provide some context, at the beginning of this year's campaign, companies were offering only 6.00-7.00 PLN (1.40-1.64 EUR) per liter of these fruits. However, the reality of low yields quickly changed those expectations, and prices increased. They have increased and have not fallen. Currently, buyers are offering 18.00-23.00 PLN (4.21-5.38 EUR) per liter of fruits.
In large wholesale quantities, selling prices per kilogram are in the range of 18.00-20.00 PLN (4.21-4.68 EUR)/kg. Recently, there has been a slight downward trend in these prices, as just a week ago selling offers reached 25.00 PLN (5.84 EUR)/kg. On the other hand, in small wholesale quantities, prices have stabilized at 35.00-40.00 PLN (8.18-9.35 EUR)/kg. These prices are significantly higher than last year's (on average +20-25 percent).
