British berry sector unhappy with supermarkets
In 2022, they imported 47% of the vegetables and 84% of the fruit consumed in the country (39% and 28% respectively from the EU), and there is a clear consumer preference for local, UK-produced produce.
However, supermarkets are exerting a strong downward pressure on prices,
and the UK's fruit and vegetable market is under pressure.
"Fruit Today" magazine is a valuable source of information for the fresh produce industry. Its aim is to connect fruit producers from Southern Europe with European import and distribution channels. The articles cover the entire value chain of the fruit and vegetable trade, as well as companies operating in the industry. The magazine has a yearly print run of 5,000 copies, distributed in countries such as Spain, Germany, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Eastern Europe, Chile, and Peru. It is distributed through both direct subscriptions and free distribution at major European trade fairs.
