Cherries - have the predictions been confirmed?

Midway through last week, we predicted that the prices of Polish cherries in the domestic wholesale market would most likely improve. We wrote on the pages of fresh-market.pl that even if these current prices do not rise, in the 28th week their relation to prices from previous seasons would be better than before. Did this prediction come true?

A glance at the chart shows that the predictions were accurate. This was made easier by the fact that prices of domestic cherries in the wholesale market not only avoided decreases but also increased. This is the result of less import pressure and good demand for higher quality fruits. And there are not many cherries of good quality.

Selling prices of decent and good quality cherries in the wholesale market range from 9.00-18.00 PLN/kg (2.11-4.23 EUR/kg), depending on the variety and size. Of course, lower quality fruits are also available, with prices around 6.00-7.00 PLN/kg (1.41-1.65 EUR/kg), but that is already quite poor quality. On the other hand, there are thick and beautiful cherries (28+ mm) offered at 20.00 PLN/kg (4.70 EUR/kg) and more.

As seen in the chart, the trend described above has caused a significant relative change in the cherry market. Now the average price is decidedly higher than all prices from the previous five seasons, even from the "expensive" 2023 season, and this is unlikely to change.
