Cherry prices are rising at the end of the season.

2024-07-17 08:05

The cherry season in Poland is coming to an end, and the prices of these fruits are rising. We have a fairly typical scenario for the final phase of this fruit's campaign. The interesting aspect, however, is at what price level these changes are taking place.

How does it compare to previous years? The peak supply of this year's cherry season in Poland is definitely behind us. From the beginning, this campaign has been ahead of the typical scenario. Therefore, the end of cherry picking this year will be faster. In the current phase of the season, cherry supply is clearly decreasing, and there is a widespread awareness in the market that the end of the harvest is rapidly approaching. In such conditions, it's easy to see an increase in prices, and we are observing such an increase in wholesale cherry prices. This is typical for the final stage of the season.

The question is only at what price level these changes are occurring. How does it compare to previous years? Currently, cherry prices in large wholesale markets range mostly from 10.00 to 18.00 PLN/kg (2.35 to 4.23 EUR/kg), depending on the variety, size, quality, and region of the country.

wAs seen in the image above, we are not only in the early final phase of the cherry season but also experiencing a significant increase in prices in wholesale markets. Moreover, this increase has been at a record-high level compared to the past five years, marking a drastic change from the disastrous start of this year's cherry campaign. Furthermore, all indications suggest that the current price relationship to historical prices will not change, and the 2024 season will have a record expensive ending.
