Cherries are New Zealand's largest summer fruit export, with the majority of the harvest in the important summer fruit growing region of Central Otago taking place between mid-December and early February. In the 2022/23 season, almost 3,600 tonnes of New Zealand cherries with a total value of 88 million US dollars were sold on overseas markets.
