This year, Uzbekistan started its large-scale export of sweet cherries in early May. According to EastFruit, there was a high demand in international markets, largely because of lower stone fruit production in Eastern Europe and Turkey caused by frosts in April. Uzbekistan, on the other hand, had a successful winter and was able to benefit from this situation.
