Chokeberry finishes with better prices.

The direction in which the chokeberry market has moved towards processing in the last decade of August is diametrically different from what we witnessed in this market last year. And generally, this is good news for producers. Last year, we had a disastrous collapse in the purchase prices of this fruit after August 20. So disastrous that the average price offered at that time was at the lowest level in years.

This year, the scenario was reversed. After a disastrous second decade of August this year, there was a clear improvement in demand for chokeberry from processors, followed by a strengthening of prices. The first upward correction took place on August 16, but the trend solidified after August 18.

The chart shows how drastically the price situation has changed. As a result of the mentioned trend, purchase prices were in the range of 1.10-1.50 PLN/kg (0.26-0.35 EUR/kg). This means an increase from the lowest level in the current campaign by 44 percent, and the current average price exceeding the level from all five previous seasons.

With the beginning of September, the chokeberry market entered its final phase. It is evident that this finish is taking place with a sustained high demand for these fruits, so it can be assumed that prices will remain at least stable until the end, if not strengthen further, although the latter option is much less likely.
