A grower in Hampshire has started harvesting asparagus about six weeks earlier than the usual UK season by using covered tunnels and recycled coconut husk fiber as a growing medium. New Forest Fruit is now producing large quantities of asparagus commercially by utilizing coir, a natural fiber obtained from coconut husks.
