With fewer potatoes and 50,000 fewer jobs
The reduction in the area under potato cultivation in Spain can be analysed in many ways, but from a labour point of view alone, this means the loss of 48,375 permanent jobs in the last 30 years.
According to MAPA data referring to 2022, of the 257,000 hectares of cultivation registered in 1992, today this figure stands at 63,500, which means
"Fruit Today" magazine is a valuable source of information for the fresh produce industry. Its aim is to connect fruit producers from Southern Europe with European import and distribution channels. The articles cover the entire value chain of the fruit and vegetable trade, as well as companies operating in the industry. The magazine has a yearly print run of 5,000 copies, distributed in countries such as Spain, Germany, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Eastern Europe, Chile, and Peru. It is distributed through both direct subscriptions and free distribution at major European trade fairs.
